Guru Sahib Ji has broken this ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ into two parts, so the same story is in the ninth aswell as tenth ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ

The village/city that is being spoken about is ਲਹੌਰ (Lahore). Lahore was the capital of Panjab before the 1947 Partition. Historically, Lahore was considered to be the political capital, as Mahara Ranjit Singh first captured Lahore, marking the start of their Raaj, whilst Amritsar was considered the religious capital of the Sikhs, which Mahraja Ranjit Singh had also taken over a couple of years after.

So Mahraaj writes, that within (ਬਿਖੈ) this city (ਸਹਰ) of Lahore (ਲਹੌਰ), there lives a wife (ਬਹੁਰਿਯਾ) of a Shah/Banker (ਸਾਹ)

This Lady was so beautiful that even the lotus flower (ਕਮਲ) cannot compare to the beauty of this woman.

Guru Sahib has named this character: Again within these charitars we can see that there is a message behind it such as the names we encountered before as ਸਹਿਜ ਕਲਾ or ਚਿੱਤਰ ਕਲਾ, Guru Sahib is hiding a message in each character, as these could be real stories or takes that Mahraaj have taken from their own ਅਨੁਭਵ (creativity), or something that Sant Mahapurash have been passing around.

📖 To breakdown the characters name: ਜਗ = ਜਗਤ (world), ਜੋਤਿ = light (the light of the world), ਮਤੀ = intellect (the intellect that is the light of the world)

Guru Sahib says that there is nobody equal (ਸਮ) to this lady (ਬਾਮਾ). However, Guru Sahib Ji does not say the form of what is not equal to the lady, so it could be in looks or intelligence, etc.
