This Charitar is the next story that the advisors present to the raja to show him that it may be that his son isn’t wrong, and that he may be blinded by moh (attachment).

ਚੌਪਈ ॥

ਬੰਦਿਸਾਲ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਪੂਤ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥

At the beginning of every charitar the son gets sent to the jail cell.

ਭਈ ਭੋਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਕਰ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ ॥

Then, he is called back to the darbar (ਪਕਰ ਮੰਗਾਯੋ), as this is where the decisions are made.

ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥

So now, the ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ (advisors, councillors, wazirs) are going to tell another story.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਮਹਾਂਨੰਦ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਕੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਬਹੁਰਿਯਾ ਏਕ ॥

ਮਹਾਨੰਦ is the name of the character that they are going to use in this story.

ਮੁਰਦਾਰ means ਮੁਰਦਾ (dead body). However, in this case, it could mean that ਮਹਾਂਨੰਦ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ that they were very old.

Then Mahraaj Ji says: ਕੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਬਹੁਰਿਯਾ ਏਕ, this means that ਮਹਾਨੰਦ had a wife, and we are going to find out who this wife is…
