The previous charitars were narrated by the Mantris, but with this chariutar, one of the characters are actually narrating this story.

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥

ਤੀਰ ਸਤੁਦ੍ਰਵ ਕੇ ਹੁਤੋ ਰਹਤ ਰਾਇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥

By the Sutlej River, there lived a Raja who was in so much happiness

ਦਰਬ ਹੇਤ ਤਿਹ ਠੌਰ ਹੀ ਰਾਮਜਨੀ ਇਕ ਆਇ ॥੧॥

A prostitute had come to the city that was governed by the Raja for the love of money (ਦਰਬ ਹੇਤ).

ਅੜਿਲ ॥

ਛਜਿਯਾ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਸਕਲ ਜਗ ਜਾਨਈ ॥

The name of this prostitute is ਛਜਿਯਾ (Chhajia) and, to her rich patrons,

• The meaning of ਛਜਿਯਾ is ਛਜਨਾ meaning shoba = praise

ਲਧੀਆ ਵਾ ਕੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਤੂ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਈ ॥

However, those who knew her, knew her by the name of Ladhia (ਲਧੀਆ).

• Ladhi means praapat = to obtain something.

  

Then, Guru Sahib Ji gives us a description of her physical characteristics:

ਜੋ ਕੋਊ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਲੋਕਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਆਇ ਕੈ ॥
